Ask an Attorney

We're gearing up for our October main meeting. Register and join us!

Then pick some attorneys' brains! Got questions about what's changing with local regulations? The Squatter Law? Fair Housing? Evictions? Emotional support animals? Lead-based paint? Leases? STR compliance? Contracts? Closings? Title troubles? Asset protection? Land trusts? LLCs? 1031 Exchanges? Investing inside IRAs?

Hello! ... This meeting is for you!

Bring your questions that only attorneys who focus on real estate issues, day in and day out, can answer.

Welcome to the stage these 3 real estate specialists:

  • Michelle Rawn
  • Harry Borders
  • Brad Lammi

Please be through the buffet line and in your seat by 7 p.m., ready to take notes and ask lots of questions.

Meet Michelle Rawn

Michelle practices in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. She handles evictions, collections and closings in Kentucky. She also does evictions and collections in Southern Indiana. She stays plugged into local and state government and enjoys keeping her clients up to date on issues that affect their businesses. A few years back, Michelle took the leap and became an investor herself.

She is on KREIA’s Board of Directors as Parliamentarian, is a member of the Louisville Apartment Association, and is also a member of KREE (Kentucky Real Estate Exchangors), where she has served as President. She is also the 2022 recipient of KREIA’s Ed Melton Award.

Michelle said she and attorney John Benz focus on being a one-stop shop for real estate investors and property management companies.

How to contact Michelle: via email (michelle@ rawnlawfirm.com), website (RawnLawfirm.com), or her company’s phone number (502-416-0150).

Meet Brad Lammi

Oldtimers in KREIA, when they think of Brad, they think of Hank Schildknecht, because for many years Brad was Hank’s protégé. (Hank was a longtime real estate attorney for many of KREIA’s investors, and he passed in August of 2020.)

Brad has his own law firm and is currently licensed in Kentucky and is also expanding to Ohio. He offers real estate-related legal services to investors including closings and transactional work, as well as representation regarding judicial sales, foreclosures, quiet title actions, tax bill services, and private lending. Brad also invests in real estate and tax bills.

How to contact Brad: via email (Brad@lammilaw.com) or his company’s phone number (502-883-4494).

Meet Harry Borders

You probably know Harry as one of the most prolific closing attorneys in the area (with Borders & Borders). He also helps new investors create entities best suited for real estate businesses. Should you work out of an LLC, an S-corp, or a C-corp? And what are trusts, anyway? Harry will fill you in.

Harry is also a great believer that real estate is a team sport, and he will describe who should be on your team. Also, Harry is a landlord with many rentals – and also Airbnb properties. He hosted a popular L.O.T.S. event a few years back from his spacious Bardstown Road STR.

He was the 2020 recipient of KREIA’s Ed Melton Award.

How to contact Harry: via email (Harry@ HarryBorders.com), website (bordersandborders.com), or his company’s phone number (502-894-9200).

Early Meeting: Michelle Rawn does double duty and speaks at the Early Meeting in addition to being a main presentation panelist. She and John Benz, also from her law firm, are teaming up to give us the latest news on how landlords should act on Kentucky's new Squatter Law.
